Bocche di Lupo, the Tormaresca winery estate, is located among the graceful hills of the Alta Murgia, in the best-kept secret part of the Puglia Region. Surrounded by the wild Murgia Barese, 260 meters above the sea level, this winery is Marchesi Antinori’s dream, which believed in Puglia and in its great wines.
After crossing 140 hectares of vineyards, you’ll reach the Tenuta Bocca di Lupo, with its white tuff walls and fortified structure, typical of ancient Murgia farmhouses.
Inside, under the cross-vault ceiling, the amazing barrique cellar that can house up to 1000 oak barrels. On the second storey, you can enjoy a breath-taking view of the Minervino village, with its white stone buildings reflecting the sunlight.
You can book a wine tasting or a tour of the estate, or, better yet, you can wake up at dawn, among the vineyards ready to be harvested.
The vineyards grow at 300 meters above the sea level, in the Murgia area, with its peculiar weather and environmental conditions. Indeed, its proximity to the ancient Vulture Volcano, the significant temperature drops and the calcareous soil drove Marchesi Antinori to believe and invest in the Minervino Murge territory, in the Castel Del Monte DOC area.
This boutique winery in the Alta Murgia, can boasts a series of excellent products, such as the Bocca Di Lupo, a single varietal wine made with Aglianico grapes – also known as the “Barolo of Southern Italy” – and the Pietra Bianca, a classy and fine wine aged in barrels and made with Chardonnay and Fiano grapes. Apart from its estate in the Alta Murgia, Tormaresca vineyards extend in the Salento area too, with the Masseria Maime and its trending wines, such as the Fichi Mori.
Tormaresca’s production philosophy is to create great wines from native varieties of the Puglia Region.
This is why the majority of vineyards are cultivated with traditional grape varieties – some of which date back to the times of Magna Greece – strongly rooted in the territory.
Bonding with the territory and respecting tradition are values that have been passed on for over 26 generations in the Antinori Family’s estates, and they guide Tormaresca’s choices and actions, every single day.
